On Feb. 18, 2018, The Highlands in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, hosted an Elvis Presley Day.
Elvis fans from the community, residents and family members attended the event. Elvis tribute artist Wayne Talley wowed the audience with his voice and impersonation of Elvis Presley. He played hits for the crowd and handed out scarves to the women in the audience.
Joan Moore, a resident at The Highlands, is an avid fan of Elvis Presley, with memorabilia including a photo of Elvis and a stuffed animal of a hound dog in her room. She was pleased to have her photo taken with Talley.
“Elvis was one of my favorite singers, and Wayne was one of the best impersonators I have seen,” Moore said.
Talley was more than happy to take photos with the residents and even said, “It was such a great day for me to see everyone happy and enjoying the show.”
Director of admissions, MaryAnn Melanson, enjoyed the show as well.
“The residents and family members had such a wonderful time,” Melanson said. “They were up dancing to the music. It was nice to see them engaged in the show.”
For now, Elvis has left the building, but he has promised to return again this summer.
